This past retreat was our 30th Retreat and it was for the South East Wounded Warrior Regiment DISC. District Injured Support Coordinators (DISC) are Marines who are located throughout the country to conduct face-to-face visits and telephone outreach to wounded, ill and injured (WII) Marines and their families who are recovering within their assigned region. The DISCs assist WII Marines who are experiencing extensive transition challenges, convalescing at home and those who may be away from a local base or station’s resources. June 2014 Gold Star Retreat

June 20th-24th In June, our organization in partnership with the Special Operations Warrior Foundation hosted 4 Gold Star families (Gold Star defines families whose loved ones were killed in action or training for combat). The Retreat activities included snorkeling trips, deep sea fishing, miniature golf, shopping at the PGA mall, dining out and lots of water activities. May 2nd-6th In May, we had the honor of hosting 6 wounded service members and their families. Our attendees traveled to Jupiter from Camp Pendleton Wounded Warrior Barracks, Missouri, Arizona and North Carolina. Everyone had a great time and again we were reminded of how much our military families need care and appreciation.
