Renewal Coalition 45th Retreat

Renewal Coalition 45th Retreat

[Show as slideshow] The 45th Retreat for Renewal Coalition started with the arrival of a great group of wounded service members and their wives. Our guests traveled from Missouri, Nevada, Tennessee and California. We are also very pleased that Sheri Oberhelman has joined us from the FOCUS Marine Foundation located in St. Louis, Missouri. FOCUS and Renewal Coalition have enjoyed a very good relationship for the past year and a half as we strive to assist as many wounded veterans as possible. The American Auxiliary Unit 65 Delray Beach prepared a fabulous steak dinner with the financial help of the Nam Knights of America West Palm Beach chapter. Special thanks goes to the volunteers who helped serve dinner, clean the kitchen and bring wonderful homemade desserts. Our organization is so blessed to have the volunteers, contributors and sponsors who make it possible to fulfill our mission to assist our wounded service members and their families. —————————— In spite of the cold weather, we had another great Retreat day at Renewal Coalition! Boating was replaced with a trip to the theater to see Finest Hour. The Fore family brought a fabulous brunch. Jona hosted a great Super Bowl party with every type of “football” food imagineable. Thank you so much for everyone who made yesterday such a special day. Our soldiers, Marines and their wives have really enjoyed their time with us. —————————— All of our veterans and their wives are returning home today…..always a sad day at Renewal Coalition. Even with the cold weather, everyone was able to have a great time and reconnect as a couple in a...

They were treated to a delicious cookout provided by the Vietnam Veterans of America along with some wonderful music performed by acoustic duo Dave Craig and Joe Sofia. Today started with another great breakfast provided by the Eagles and Jim Kamen. After breakfast, everyone was treated to a full day of yachting on the Bon Jou Jou. We would like to extend a very special thank you to Mr. and Mrs.Tendrich and their excellent crew for making today a once in a lifetime experience. Not only were our guests treated to a beautiful lunch but also went snorkeling, tubing and diving off the yacht. Tonight, “G” Money BBQ and The Knights of Columbus from St Rita Catholic Church provided a fabulous dinner and a lot of help. We would also like to thank Laura Yonkers who introduced our organization to the Palm Beach Quilters Club. Each family was given a beautiful hand made quilt. Today has been very special for our wounded warriors and their families. We are so grateful for the overwhelming community support we receive. Our organization would not exist without all of you and we look forward to continuing to work together as we help many more service members and their families. —————————— Our 42nd Retreat was a great success and the guests all traveled home safely yesterday with full bellies and wonderful memories of the time that they had this weekend in Jupiter, Florida. [Show as slideshow] 12► Renewal Coalition 40th Retreat Day 1 Good Evening, We just wanted to send out a note to let you all know that the 40th Renewal Coalition retreat began today and is off to a great start. We had 5 couples fly and drive in from around the country (Oklahoma, Washington and Florida). They were all blessed with safe travels and there were no flight delays, which was fantastic. Thanks so much to Terri Futch for helping with airport transportation. Tonight we enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by Linda Grevera and the ladies of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #65. The guests were raving over the ham and chicken in addition to the great sides and desserts. Thank you ladies for welcoming our guests with excellent service and food on their first night. Thank you to Al Demott and the Fore Family for all of the great food you dropped off for the weekend and to Pat for your awesome baked goods. Patti Fitzgerald was a wonderful Host Committee lead and Sasha was once again a tremendous volunteer for the evening. Tomorrow we are praying for clear skies and lots of sunshine so that the guests can enjoy golfing at Jonathan’s landing as well as boating on the Loxahatchee. We will keep you updated on the days events and look forward to sharing great stories from the trip with you. To everyone that has been involved with making this retreat possible, we sincerely thank you and hope you know that you are VERY appreciated! For the August 6th-10th event, we are still in need of meal hosts on Friday evening, August 7th as well as Saturday evening, August 8th. Today we had couples travel in from around the country including North Carolina, New Jersey, Washington, and Florida. Unfortunately the couple from Washington has had to deal with flight delays but will be joining us shortly after midnight tonight (Thanks Emilio for making the late night run to the airport!). Thank you to everyone who has sent your well wishes as well as your generous donations and time to help get this retreat up and running. A few of the guests who arrived early had time to paddle board and kayak this afternoon, and others spent time on the dock fishing and getting to know one another. We are so thankful to have another fantastic group and can’t wait to see what adventures the weekend brings. We would like to give a huge thank you to Mike Bull and End Zones for the delicious meal that was provided tonight including roasted pork, mashed potatoes and green beans. Thank you to our awesome volunteers tonight, Terri Futch, Gabriel Tamburri, Joe Petroski and James Drewry as well as the Jackson family. This afternoon, we welcomed  2 couples from Missouri, a family of 4 from St Cloud, and a family of 4 from Boca Raton. We still have a family of 3 from California who is still traveling due to unfortunate flight delays, but we are expecting them around midnight and our dedicated staff member Emilio will be making the trip to pick them up. We had a beautiful day on property and many of the guests took part in paddle boarding, kayaking and fishing. Once again, Al Demott and the Once a Month Charity brought tons of food and bounce houses for the kids, which have been a huge hit! The Fore family also donated a ton of fresh fruit and food as well as drinks, desserts, paper products and even toiletries to make our guests feel at home. Pat brought some more of her homemade goodies that we are all thoroughly enjoying and Kathy donated some fun-filled bags for each of the children. Thank you to all of our other volunteers who have been dropping off supplies throughout the week. We could not do what we do without the generosity of our amazing donors and volunteers. Cathy Higgins and the ladies from J.L. Cares provided our guests with a delicious lasagna meal this evening, and we would like to give a special thanks to dd’s cupcake shoppe for the fantastic dessert.
